MISSSEY's 6-point platform

1. We want commercially sexually exploited children to be recognized as victims, not criminals. We believe that commercially sexually exploited children are victims of sexual child abuse in the form of sexual exploitation and that they are not child prostitutes.

2. We want education and awareness brought to the issue of the commercial sexual exploitation of children. We believe that the commercial sexual exploitation of children occurs in multiple forms, especially in the form of child prostitution.

3. We want a comprehensive service model and crisis center established for commercially sexually exploited children. We believe commercially sexually exploited children need and deserve specialized and unique treatment, through non-judgmental, maternal, innovative services, by youthful staff with relevant life experience.

4. We want commercially sexually exploited children to be provided with services that focus on their healing and recovery. We believe that creating a permanent record of a child’s sexual exploitation through media or any other source is further exploitation of that child.

5. We want a national movement initiated that recognizes the issue of the commercial sexual exploitation of children and hold our law enforcement, Juvenile Justice System, and Social Services accountable to respond to them as such. We believe that commercially sexually exploited children are not only victims of child sexual abuse but are also victims of physical, mental and psychological manipulation and cruelty and should be protected regardless of their power to cooperate.

6. We want serious consequences imposed on individuals that sexually abuse or commercially sexually exploit children, especially in the form of child/teen prostitution. We believe that the sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation of children are serious criminal offenses against a highly vulnerable population.
